The Ruparelia Group of companies, conglomerate owned by Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, was named among the best exhibitors during Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Tax Appreciation Week 2018 which was held last week at Kololo Airstrip.
Ruparelia Group were First Runner-up in the category of private exhibitors behind Roko Construction Limited. Tembo Steels was third. The Group received the award during the Tax Payers Appreciation Dinner at the Airstrip where top tax payers in various categories were awarded.
Ruparelia Group runs runs businesses among various sectors in Uganda, including: banking, insurance, hospitality, conventions and leisure centres, education, real estate and floriculture.
Some of the companies under Ruparelia Group include Victoria University, Resort Hotel Munyonyo, Meera Investments, Rosebud Limited and Kabira Country Club, KISU, Kampala Parents School, Forest Cottages, Sany FM among others.
Uganda Revenue Authority organised the Tax Payer Appreciation Week under the theme “Stronger Together” as a way of thanking all tax payers and rewarding for being tax complaint.
In October last year, URA released a list of 25 top non individual rental income taxpayers and another 25 individual rental income taxpayers. On both lists Ruparelia Group features prominently. The Group's Meera Investment toped the list of non individual rental income payers while Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia as an individual came second on the list of individual rental income taxpayers.
