Group Petitions Kadaga To Stop Second BoU Probe

Parliament of Uganda has concluded a gruesome into the mismanagement of the banking sector by Bank of Uganda and therefore cannot do it all over again, an NGO has told speaker of parliament, Rebecca Kadaga.

They want Kadaga to ban parliament from re-investigation Bank of Uganda. Under the chairmanship of Mubaraka Munyagwa, new committee on commissions, statuary authorities and state enterprises (COSASE) is pondering reinvestigating the manner because the central bank has submitted new defense evidence.

Critical during the investigation by the old COSASE under Abdul Katuntu was the Shs478 billion that the central bank official failed to account for during the first probe. The said money was spent by the central allegedly to work out a way to save Crane Bank from collapse something they failed to do.

The group led by  Kakulu Sam Brian, a student pursuing B.A and Law at Uganda Christian university  says the new chairperson of COSASE, Honorable Mubaraka Munyagwa is trying to play on the minds of fellow legislators, to give DR. luis Kasekende chance  to table accountability of Shs478 billion which BOU failed to account for in the first.

The petition also demanding the speaker to fire Mubaraka Munyagwa from the chairmanship of COSASE if he has started to connive with BOU officials to bring back the investigations instead of implementing the recomanadtions made by Abdu Katuntu’s investigations.
