Former ICT Minister Dr. Ham Mukasa Mulira, has candidly spoken about the importance of education, calling it the biggest investment parents can give their children.

“Parents struggle to make this possible but sometimes students do not respond positively. Education being the biggest investment.

“It is meant to celebrate your victory after sleepless nights and note that everybody does not get the opportunity,” Dr. Mulira said.

He was speaking as the Commencement Speaker and Guest of Honor at the 4th graduation ceremony of Victoria University which took place on Friday at Speke Resort in Munyonyo.

A total of 50 students from Victoria University graduated from the Faculty of Business and Management, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Science and Technology.

Dr. Mulira said there is no end when it comes to education but the beginning of one’s life. “University education is the last chance and education is not only about acquiring knowledge but building the body, mind and soul,” he said.

Dr. Martin Aliker, the Chancellor Victoria University congratulated students, parents and university staff upon this achievement.  

“No one will design life for you and you must do it yourself. Our role is to guide you,” Dr. Aliker told the graduands.

“Therefore, consider it important to have people who can help you follow your passion as you embrace the opportunities available in line with our theme of development change agents” he counselled.

Victoria University Chancellor Dr Martin Jerome Aliker, Vice Associate Prof Krishna N. Sharma and University Director Rajiv Ruparelia presided over the graduation.

Other notable dignitaries that graced the event are Dr David Byatike Matovu the Chairman University Council and Senior Presidential Advisor on ICT Dr Ham Muliira.
