Buseruka Sub County in Hoima district is struggling to raise Shs40m to complete the sub county’s administration block.
Construction of the Shs80m structure started in 2020 but has since stalled due to lack of money to complete its construction.
Currently the sub country leaders are operating in a structure meant to accommodate the sub county chief. They have since turned the few available rooms in the house into offices.
Sources at the sub county headquarters told Spice FM on condition of anonymity that the sub county chief who is supposed to reside at the sub county headquarters now commutes daily from Hoima town to Buseruka due to lack of space.
Ali Tinkamanyire, the Buseruka sub county LC3 Chairperson explains that the administration block that is currently at a wall plate level has so far cost Shs40m. He adds that an additional Shs40m is needed to have the administration block fully completed.
He says currently the sub county is financially constrained adding that their hope of completing the block has faded after their efforts of lobbying funds from the government failed to yield positive results.
He says the sub county had challenges with revenue collection saying part of the money was supposed to be raised from local revenue but the situation was worsened with the COVID-19 lockdown that saw all businesses in the sub county closed.
Tinkamanyire says they are now trying to reach out to a few Organizations operating in the sub county to extend a helping hand towards the construction of the administration block but still in vain.
The major works remaining are roofing, fixing the doors, Windows, ceiling, landscaping and stone pitching, construction of toilets, installation of water harvesting system, final Painting, fixing water piping system inside the rooms, connecting electricity among others which is still quite expensive.
